A torsional vibration damper is a device connected to the crankshaft, designed to reduce torsional vibrations. Vibrations generated by the crankshaft are transferred to downstream components of the drivetrain, such as the gearbox and drive shafts. A torsional vibration damper reduces harmful vibrations in these components, also improving ride comfort.
